Known for his music and compositional skills, Hammersmith born Gary Numan creates signature heavy synthesizer hooks fed through guitar effects pedals. His famously memorable hits include 1979’s “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?” and “Cars”, sky rocketed and won his fans over. Superfans say he’s the pioneer of commercial electronic music. Bizarrely, Numan blames his music passion developing when he was acne-ridden as a teenager, forcing him to stay inside out of sight, and from then on his music and style was born. The artist’s new album ‘Dead Son Rising’ is out now.
The Music Press grabbed Gary to chat about playing at The Academy in Manchester, his loyal fans and his early career.
