News » And the winner is
Manchester's Hard Rock Cafe was a hive of activity last night; yes it was the start of the Easter bank holiday and the city was buzzing with revellers aiming to make the most of the extended weekend however, within the walls of the HRC there was a electrifying atmosphere unlike anywhere else in the city.
After months of preparation, hard work and countless social networking posts it was time to find out who would be victorious in the Manchester final of Hard Rock Rising 2013, who would go forth to battle with winners from across the globe and hopefully win the mother load of all prizes… A World Tour in six renowned cities arranged by Hard Rock International – including a spot on the bill at the Hard Rock Calling festival in London, with additional dates at Hard Rock Cafes in cities such as Sydney, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Chicago and Honolulu; make an album and music video through Hard Rock Records; and receive new music equipment and gear valued at $10,000.
A Joker's Rage, Boomin and Purge were the three bands who each made it to the top of their respected heats and earned their place in the final with show stopping performances… it couldn't get any better… or could it?
As each band took to the stage it was clear that the judges were going to be in for a tough time. The phrase "stepping up their game" and "raising the bar" were given new meaning tonight as the packed out Hard Rock Cafe Manchester was blown away by what can only be described as 3 AMAZING BANDS who played with passion, precision and an overwhelming amount of respect and support for each other.
With the band performances complete it was down to the judges including members of Real XS, Manchester Rocks and your very own TMP to cast their votes and pass them over to event organiser Emma Livingstone to add up (because we can't) the numbers before handing over the golden envelope fellow judge, compare and Manchester's own Terry Christian who announced Wigan boys BOOMIN as the this year's winners. With the roof well and truly lifted it was over to the boys once again to play a slightly emotional encore with the words "Live Music All The Way" echoing around the memorabilia clad walls of the Hard Rock Cafe Manchester.
With the next stage due to get underway at the end of April the BOOMIN boys will need your help as they enter the world final of the competition so be sure to go and show your support.
We'd like to say a huge congratulations to all the bands who entered and to Emma Livingstone and the Hard Rock team for their continued support and commitment to emerging artists. See You Next Year!
